    • Description of particle systems with population balances and the discrete element method
    • Relative motion of particles in a fluid and particle flows
    • Turbulent transport processes
    • Identification of the quality of a separation process and separation function
    • Separation process models
  • Basics of plant dimensioning and design
  • Physical basics for the following separation processes:
    • Classification
    • Sort
    • Magnetic and eddy current separation
    • Flotation
    • Filtration with a focus on “separation of the finest particles”
    • Optical sorting
  • Analysis and synthesis of plant concepts
