Topology Optimization & Lab Testing of Corrugated Boards

Hiwi-Stelle

The focus aims to reduce weight and cost by means of topology optimization. This involves both lab-based mechanical testing and simulation-driven design improvements. Other tasks can be attributed over time.

Students involved in this project will support key tasks such as conducting experiments, adapting and developing simulation code for corrugated structures, and building databases to store and analyze results. Another essential aspect of the work is the documentation and reporting of findings to support ongoing research.

This hands-on position offers valuable experience in mechanical characterization, simulation and modeling, and data-driven optimization—all essential skills in modern engineering and materials science. Participation in this project not only contributes to sustainable packaging solutions but also builds a strong foundation for both academic growth and professional development in research or industry.
