The IfP-gGmbH was founded in 2002 by the German Pulp and Paper Association (VDP) and Darmstadt University of Technology. The IfP-gGmbH is associated to the Chair of Paper technology and Mechanical Process Engineering (PMV) by the fact that Prof. Schabel as director of the unit takes over the scientific management of the IfP-gGmbH.

The IfP-gGmbH offers physical and white analyses of raw materials for paper production, of water and wastewater, as well as analyses of sludge from paper production processes and of the paper itself.

The IfP-gGmbH works in close cooperation with the PMV research projects and takes analysis and investigation orders from the paper industry and related branches.
