Tasks of PMV
The Chair of Paper Technology and Mechanical Process Engineering was established as Institute for Paper Technology in 1905 on initiative of the Federation of the German Paper Manufacturers in Berlin. The Research and Teaching Unit adresses itself to the following tasks, which are common in content :
The Training serves as an education of the juniour staff for the national and foreign paper industry and their research institutions as well as for related branches of industry (process engineering, chemical industry, engineering shares, measuring and control technology, machine clothing industry). Moreover engineers are trained, who can work as teachers e.g. at the Paperschool in Gernsbach, or at professional schools and universities.
In the department of mechanical engineering, the training is focused on the major study between 5th and 10th term of the diploma course of studies or alternatively on 7th to 10th term of the master course of studies.
The Research adresses itself to exclusive areas within the paper technology with strong reference to the effective development of the paper industry under emphasis of recycling and environmental protection measures (e.g. wastewater treatment, completely closed water circulations during the paper manufacture).
The Services covers chemical and physical inspections for other companies, appraisals and studies as well as literature services on the part of the Pulp and Paper Library.
